We recommend that you explore Dalen by foot as this is a great basecamp for adventures in the summertime. Dalen is the area that has the most hiking routes in HikingTelemark and you can start all of them at Dalen town center. Here you find the only expert trail in HikingTelemark, the famous Lårdalstigen, which has become a bucket list experience for many hikers. The hike to the smallholding Rui, where you follow in the footsteps of the girls from Rui, is also very popular. Now sherpas from Nepal have built stone steps to facilitate the steep access to Rui. If you are in the mood for an easy stroll, you can start in the garden of venerable Dalen Hotel and stroll the Bufjordstigen Trail. Dalen has excellent hiking opportunities for everyone!

Other must do experiences in Dalen are the artwork sauna Soria Moria, West Telemark Museum with Eidsborg Stave Church and The Channel Park, Ravens Gorge, fishing in the river Tokkeåi, biking along The Telemark Canal, historical Dalen Hotel… to name a few. Dalen must simply be experienced!
