About

Welcome to Fossumsanden Camping og Hytter, a small-scale, rustic, and charming nature campsite in the heart of Southern Norway. Beautifully situated right by Lake Skredvatnet and at the foot of Mount Stor Roan (1196 m) in Fyresdal, here you will find tranquility and authentic Norwegian nature – far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Whether you are seeking active adventures on the hiking trails or simply want to find peace by the water’s edge, Fossumsanden is the ideal starting point for discovering Telemark’s crystal-clear waters, vast forests, and untouched wilderness.

Accommodation and Prices

With us, freedom is the main focus. We offer flexible and cozy accommodation options tailored to your travel style:

  • Nature Camping (Tents, motorhomes, and caravans): We have no numbered pitches – simply drive down, find your favorite spot, and enjoy the freedom. During the high season, we have a dedicated tent area right by the water where you can park your car next to your tent.
    Prices from 280 NOK/night (for 2 people).
  • Glamping: Enjoy the comfort of a fully set-up glamping tent right in the heart of nature.
    Prices from 975 NOK/night (for 2 people).
  • Cozy Cabins (Hytter): Perfect for families and groups of friends looking for a rustic and traditional cabin experience. Prices from 630 NOK/night (for 4 people).

Facilities and Unique Experiences

  • Exclusive Riverside Sauna: Hidden behind the sanitary facilities, you will find our secret gem – a private sauna right by the waterfall. You can rent the facility (sauna, relaxation room, and terrace) entirely for yourself for 3 hours to sweat it out and cool down directly in the refreshing mountain water from the falls.
  • Swimming and Paddling in Skredvatnet: The lake is located right outside the camping area. The water is clean, fresh, and perfect for a morning dip or a day of swimming and water activities.
  • Grill and Campfire Area: We have built a lovely BBQ area by the water with a hanging fire pit for cozy evenings when the weather is calm (subject to local regulations during the general summer bonfire ban).
  • Facilities: We offer free WiFi around the reception and common buildings. We also have 20 electricity hookups (standard European plugs) available for 65 NOK per day.

Nearby Activities

  • Hamaren and the Treetop Walk (Tretoppveien): Located just 18 km from the campsite, you will find the famous treetop walk in Fyresdal – a fantastic recreational area featuring spectacular mountain views, cycling routes, and nature trails suitable for all ages.
  • Hiking and Mountaineering: Step straight out your door onto countless hiking trails, or hike up Mount Stor Roan (1196 m.o.h.), which provides a stunning backdrop to the campsite.

Useful Information for Guests

To ensure all our guests have the best possible experience, we have a few simple guidelines and practical details:

  • Check-in and Check-out: For camping, check-in is from 11:00 AM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. For cabins, check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM.
  • Vehicle Size Restrictions: During the high season (June 15th – August 15th), due to turning space and layout, we cannot accept motorhomes over 8 meters or caravans over 6 meters (excluding the tow bar). We are more flexible outside the high season.
  • Reservations: Camping pitches cannot be reserved in advance due to our open drop-in system. Cabins and glamping should be booked in advance via our website.
  • Dogs: Four-legged friends are warmly welcome at the campsite as long as they are kept on a leash. However, they are not allowed inside the glamping tents or the cabin unit named "Hestestallen".
  • Quiet Hours: The campsite must be completely quiet between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM.
