About the hike

The marked trail starts at a rock cutting along the road towards Bråten. The first section is a more or less steep climb through the forest, before joining a wider path that leads to Hattefjellmyri.

From here, a marked but steep trail continues to the summit, where you are rewarded with fantastic views over Seljord and towards Skorve, Mælefjell, and Lifjell.

From the top, you can look directly down on the farms in Åsheimgrendi. In earlier times, these were large farms in Seljord, and many events and stories are connected to this area, including the tale of Ståle Åsheim.

Alternative route

From Hattefjellmyri, you can follow a marked trail westwards to the charming Tjønnstaul, where you’ll find old mountain farm (seter) buildings. The trail can be somewhat unclear in parts.

Walking time from Hattefjellmyri: approx. 1 hour
