About

Tretopper’n is a fantastic loop trail that takes you across the three peaks surrounding Jønnbu: Anebunatten, Krintofjellet, and Bøkstulnatten. • Elevation Gain: 175 meters total
  • Season: May – October

Route Description: Three Peaks in One Hike

The loop is marked with blue paint and signposted as "Tretopper’n." Map boards are located at every trail junction to help you navigate easily.

  • Start at Jønnbu: Head out from the western end of the Jønnbu parking lot and follow the main trail leading up toward Lifjell.
  • Anebunatten (878 m.a.s.l.): Turn west at the first junction. The trail leads through varied terrain to the edge of Anebunatten, offering stunning views.
  • Krintofjellet (923 m.a.s.l.): Follow the trail back and climb toward Krintofjellet to reach a spectacular viewpoint.
  • Bøkstulnatten (928 m.a.s.l.): Continue toward the top of the steep Krintokleiva slope, then head straight up to the highest of the three peaks.
  • Return via "Bestemorssløyfa": From Bøkstulnatten, follow the path down to the picnic area in "Bestemorssløyfa" (Grandmother’s Loop) and back to the Jønnbu parking lot.

Adventure Tip: Stream Gorge Scrambling

For an extra exciting trip, take the "shortcut" toward Krintofjellet through the Grostulbekken stream. This allows children to experience stream-gorge scrambling—jumping from rock to rock while listening to the rushing water. It’s a guaranteed hit for young adventurers!

Facilities and Resting Spots

The local trekking association (Bø Turlag) has prepared the trail for great breaks:

  • Picnic and Bonfire Sites: Strategically placed so little feet can rest along the way.
  • Bestemorssløyfa: A very child-friendly section of the trail. Families with small children may prefer to start here.
  • Flexibility: You can choose to visit only one or two peaks to shorten the trip. The mountain experience is grand regardless of how many summits you reach.

Getting to Jønnbu, Lifjell

From Bø City Centre: Drive Folkestadvegen toward Bø Sommarland (approx. 13.2 km total).

Parking: At the Bø Sommarland junction, turn left onto Lifjellvegen and follow it all the way up to the Jønnbu parking lot (parking fee applies).

Information: You will find information boards with maps and trail details at the parking area.

Respect the Mountains: Responsible Hiking

To ensure Lifjell remains a gem for future generations, please remember:

  • Stay on the marked trails: This minimizes wear and tear on fragile alpine vegetation.
  • Leave no trace: Always take your trash home and respect the seasonal ban on open fires.
  • Wildlife and Livestock: Show respect to grazing animals and wildlife in the area.
